New Manchester Records at FindMyPast

This week Find My Past [FMP] have added a massive 4.9 million Manchester rate book records to the collection

These new additions span from the 1790s to the 1940s and of course include places such as Stockport

As well as that there are an additional 215,002 rate book images, also from Greater Manchester, available to browse

While the transcriptions cover all years ending in 1 and 6 between the 1790s and the 1940s, the browse-only images are from every year in between.

Although they're not searchable by name or address, you can filter results by year, location, council, and optional keywords.

What is Family History Software?

Family History Software

What Is Family History Software?

Wherever you are on your genealogy journey, there are multiple reasons for using family history software.

Also known as genealogy software, this is a computer program that enables you to document and manage your family history data.

You can input details of your ancestors individually or from a GEDCOM (Genealogical Data Communication) file.

If you have a family tree on an online database, such as Ancestry, you can download the GEDCOM from there and

upload it to your personal computer using this form of software.

Most programs also have the facility to publish your genealogical information in the form of a webpage, chart, or written report.

Carry on reading this very interesting and educational blog from the Society of Genealogists 👉https://www.sog.org.uk/our-collections/featured/family-history-software/
