This show was amazing for me - because I had just realised that not only had my Mum told me (when I was 12) that she was a bastard, as you can imagine I was surprised that she still felt such humiliation, so I calmed her worries saying 'when I get some time I will enjoy reviewing this'.After my mum passed away, I found the time to do a 'little bit' of family history and managed to get a copy of my Nan's birth certificate and guess what 'she was also a bastard'.
After a while I seemed to recognise a registration signature on my mums birth certificate so looked it up and found out that my mum was born in Nantwich Poorhouse.
After watching this 'who do you think you are' a memory began to return of my Nan telling me that she worked in a posh house and the son of the house forced himself on her and so she took the baby to the Court and held her up'.
So that must have been my mum and I'm getting an urgency to do some research on this now.
But where do I start??
There may be something in the newspapers, if you email me on chair@fhsc.org.uk we can 'chat'' about this and maybe find you some answers or pointers of where to go next Margaret
