Wills very often mention people with different surnames from the Testator. These include relatives e.g. married daughters, friends and close neighbours who acted as witnesses, trustees and executors, were tenants, creditors or debtors. It is hoped this index which includes all of the above, will be of use to family historians. Within the index will be found evidence of second and third marriages, step children and step parents, illegitimate children and many other instances of involved family relationships which are often difficult to untangle.
