Visit to Clayton Hall

For all those who came on our visit yesterday to Clayton Hall, I have uploaded some photographs of the day on our Tameside Image Gallery:

The Friends of Clayton Hall looked after us extremely well and all, I think, enjoyed the day.  What they have achieved since they took over the house is amazing.  The house is not like some great mansion but feels warm and cosy and lived in.  It feels as if you could just move in and be comfortable.

Thank you for joining us.

Forthcoming meeting on Wednesday Evening.

On Wednesday Lynne Quirke will be talking about the Cotton Famine and its particular effects east of Manchester.  Lynne has been recommended to us by Denton Local History Society.  She has been researching local history for 30 years so will be a well researched talk.
