These Monumental Inscriptions of St Mary, Birkenhead were originally transcribed by B. J. Barnes in 1980 but without an index. A member of the Family History Society of Cheshire has added an index. The society wish to record our grateful thanks to B. J. Barnes who did the original work and to our member who indexed this transcription. There was another partial transcription of the gravestones in this churchyard which was done by Merseyside Archaeological Society in 1977.
