Who are we?

  • The Family History Society of Cheshire (FHSC) was founded in 1969 to advance the study of family history and genealogy.
  • The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and also the North West Group of Family History Societies.
  • All our officers and officials are unpaid volunteers, helping in their spare time.
  • We produce a large number of Publications relating to Cheshire family history.
  • Why you should join

    • Four copies a year of our ‘Award Winning’ magazine the Cheshire Ancestor.
    • Members only web site content e.g., research guides and information.
    • Surnames interests being researched by other members.
    • Help from our Volunteers at our two well stocked libraries/research centres.
    • An interesting programme of events throughout the year at group meetings.
    • Help and advice at group meetings and via the online forum.

    Featured Events


    We  meet on the third Tuesday of the month at Nantwich Methodist Church Centre, Hospital St, Nantwich CW5 5RP. Doors open at 7.15pm, meetings begin at 7.30pm. There is ample parking in The Gullet or Morrison`s car park (by the petrol station). Every month we have a speaker on family or social history and there is always time afterwards to mingle with other members. 

    Visitors are welcome to our meetings. Entrance is £2 for members and £3 for visitors at the door including refreshments.
