Who are we?

  • The Family History Society of Cheshire (FHSC) was founded in 1969 to advance the study of family history and genealogy.
  • The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and also the North West Group of Family History Societies.
  • All our officers and officials are unpaid volunteers, helping in their spare time.
  • We produce a large number of Publications relating to Cheshire family history.
  • You can keep up to date with us via Social Media (Facebook and Twitter) - see the links at the bottom of this page

Why you should join

  • Four copies a year of our ‘Award Winning’ magazine the Cheshire Ancestor.
  • Members only web site content e.g., research guides and information.

Covid 19 up-date
 
Following Government advice, our research centres are closed at present and all group meetings have been cancelled, we hope to still keep in touch by sending out more regular newsletters and you will still be notified when the latest copy of the Ancestor goes online. While we are all social isolating/distancing this is a  perfect opportunity to catch up on some research using the website facilities. We  meet on the third Tuesday of the month at Nantwich Methodist Church Centre, Hospital St, Nantwich CW5 5RP. Doors open at 7.15pm, meetings begin at 7.30pm. There is ample parking in The Gullet or Morrison`s car park (by the petrol station). Every month we have a speaker on family or social history and there is always time afterwards to mingle with other members. 

Visitors are welcome to our meetings. Entrance is £2 for members and £3 for visitors at the door including refreshments.

 

NB:Some talks do have a higher entrance fee check the listings for details.
