A talk on the airfields of Manchester by George Cogswell, local historian. Evacuated from London during the war. George is know for saving a rare WWll air raid siren located Cecil Rd, Hale which has now been given Grade II listed status
George also runs the Trafford War Dead Website and Greater Manchester Blitz Victims

Alsager Group: FIRST CHOOSE YOUR PARENTS - Hazel Rugman
What was the life expectancy of our ancestors? What were the common causes of their deaths? Can knowing what they died from give us a clue about illnesses that we might get? Can we spot patterns that indicate inheritable diseases in our familes?
Hazel will try to answer those questions by looking at death records for the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Chester Helpdesk at The StoryHouse
Chester Group run a family history help desk at the Library at Storyhouse, Hunter Street, Chester CH1 2AR, from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesdays which is open to everyone looking for help with their family history.
If you are a newcomer to family history or are looking for some local knowledge or have run up against a brickwall or would like some help on a computing or internet aspect of family history, just ask. There is always somebody who would be pleased to help

How to resolve stumbling blocks in your family history research using new and unique search strategies on The Genealogist to find those missing relatives. Includes searching for a family using just the individuals' forenames, keyword search tools; using criteria other than a name to search on, using maps and other advanced search techniques. The talk also covers unique data sets such as Tithe records, The 1910 Land Survey, Non-Conformist records, Non-Parochial records, Fleet marriages, Will images, Parish Records, Directories, Newspapers and more.
