From 10 January 2019 19:30 until 10 January 2019 21:30Diana Leitch will be recounting the story of the rise of this family of calico printers, from their beginnings in north Manchester to their ownership of the printing mills in Strines; the creation of the Calico Printers Association and the purchase of Bramall Hall for Charles Nevill. Subsequent owners of the Hall will also feature.

There is enough interest in the subject to keep the national Inn Sign Society going, so we can be sure that Tony Bostock’s talk, postponed from last year, will tell us a lot.

From 13 June 2019 19:30 until 13 June 2019 21:30Speaker Steve Cliffe has promoted heritage within the Borough for decades, particularly through the Stockport Heritage magazine, which ran for 97 issues from 1987 to 2017. The fight to save Staircase House and establish its award-winning museum featured prominently in that worthy and worthwhile journey.
