How to Join

New members can print out our on-line Membership Form, and mail it to our Enrolment Secretary with a cheque for the appropriate amount to cover your subscription (see rates below).

Existing members who are renewing can send their fees to our Renewals Secretary at the address above.

People living outside the United Kingdom may also join or renew their membership through the Cheshire section of GENfair.

UK residents can also join by sending their credit card details (name, numbers, start/expiry dates) to our Enrolment Secretary with their application forms.

Membership Renewals

Except for the few remaining members whose historic renewal dates have not been changed, Membership Renewal takes place on 1st July each year.

Members wishing to renew, but who do not have the renewal forms printed in each June edition of Ancestor, can print out our on-line Membership Renewal Form and mail it to our Membership Renewals Secretary with a cheque for the appropriate amount. (See subscription rates table below)

Members may choose to renew through their bank using a Standing Order. A mandate for this purpose is contained in the downloadable renewal form listed above. This should be completed in full, incuding the insertion of your FHSC membership number and the form given to your bank before the 1st July action date.

Members may also renew be sending their credit card details, including their membership number, to the membership renewals secretary

The facility now exists for all members to  renew their subscription through the Cheshire section of Genfair.

When renewing by any of the above means, please ensure you include your Membership Number in the spaces provided on all the above forms. This can be found on the address label containing each new issue of Ancestor.

Please remember that in an effort to keep operating costs to a minimum, the FHSC do not re-issue membership cards with each renewal. The membership number you are given on joining the society will not change.

Your confirmation that your membership is current is by receipt of 4 copies of Ancestor each year. If you do not receive your copy, you should call either the Membership Renewals Secretary, or the Journal Distribution Secretary, who will be able to check your membership status and advise you accordingly. Admission to the AERC simply requires you to quote your membership number at the door.

Gift Aid

Subject to certain conditions the society is able to recover from Revenue and Customs an additional 25% of each subscription paid under the Gift Aid scheme. Those terms and conditions may be read on the on-line Gift Aid form, which if completed should be returned to the Gift Aid secretary.
