This year sees the once-in-a-generation celebration of Preston Guild which has been run since 1179. As part of the celebrations, on 23 June the University of Central Lancashire’s Institute of Local and Family History will be staging a History Fair in the Foster Building on the University Campus in the heart of the City (Google PR1 2HE). Archives, local and family history societies, museums booksellers, postcard sellers and heritage organisations will be represented – either selling their wares, providing advice, or both.
Entry to the public is free and includes free lectures by local and nationally recognised speakers – Dr Nick Barratt, Dr Nick Mansfield (former Director People’s History Museum) and Chris Pomery (Family Tree DNA). Tickets available on the day.
