RUNCORN – Before the turn of the 20th Century was a small market town 188 miles from London, 28 miles from Manchester and 15 miles from Chester. It sits on the banks of the River Mersey and up until the completion of the Duke of Bridgewater’s navigation it was an unknown village. As far back as the 1800’s Runcorn became a resort for salt water bathing, and people from miles around would travel to benefit from bathing in the salt water and taking in the views and breathing in the pure air.
