The Alsager Group meets at Wesley Place Methodist Church, Lawton Road, Alsager. For those with satelite navigation the postcode is ST7 2AF. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, except in July when we have a 'field' visit, in August when we have the month off and in December 2010 when the Xmas Party has been brought forward to the 13th December.
Visitors are always welcome and there is free parking at the nearby Civic Centre car park, which is recommended as the church car park gets very congested. We charge £1 for members of the FHSC and £1.50 for visitors, including light refreshments. We are always pleased to help anyone get started if they are new to Family History.
On the first Monday of most months we hold a Computer On-Line Workshop, led by Liz Pinkney. These are held at the Alsager Community Church, next to the Civic Centre car park, and members decide what topics they would like to be covered. For example we have looked at anything from Military Records and Census Returns through to Births, Marriages and Deaths and so on. This is ideal for those who are new to Family History research or techniques and even those with experience can learn plenty of new tricks. Again, we start at 7.30pm and the cost for the Workshop is £1 for members of the Society and £2 for non-members, including light refreshments. The workshop is held most months but please check the Noticeboard on this site for up to date information.
