THE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY OF CHESHIRENANTWICH GROUP
MeetingsThe Nantwich Group meets on the third Monday in each month, in the Nantwich Library, Nantwich, from 7.30pm to 9.30 pm (Doors open 7:15pm.) Our meetings have an attendance of around twenty, with a stead flow of new members. Most months we have a speaker. We have a growing and useful collection of CDs that members can borrow, covering most of the census records in Cheshire and other topics, and we are continuing our involvement in computerising the South Cheshire area 1841 census. In August our own member Bryan Roe talked about wills and how it is possible to track down people mentioned in them. The AGM was played away from home. We visited Acton Parish Church and were impressed with the warmth of our reception, the history, the building and especially for us the actual parish registers which are still stored there and have not been given over to the County Record Office. There is a certain thrill in seeing the real thing rather than a reel of film! October saw a return visit from Ian May ho gave his browser's guide to Cheshire churches. Most interesting and informative and helps us to put our parish register information in context. Programme for 2007
Library We have a growing and useful collection of CDs that members can borrow covering most of the census records in Cheshire and other topics. Our book library has now gone to The Crewe Group's library at Alsager with some of them possibly being passed on to Alderley Edge.
