MEMBERS' INTERESTS FORM GUIDE

Guide to completing the Members' Interest Form

  1. Go to the Members' Interests Form page and print the form by pressing Control+P.
     
  2. Fill in today's date and your Membership Number.
     
  3. Enter your name and address with postcode.
     
  4. Ensure you circle the type of input you require
     
    • NEW - for the first list of interests you send.
    • ADDITIONS - where you are only adding to previously submitted interests with the same membership number.
    • UPDATE - All previously published interests for the membership number WILL BE DELETED from the master list.

    ANY SHEETS RECEIVED AND NOT IDENTIFIED WILL BE TREATED AS UPDATES.
     
  5. Enter SURNAMES only in the "Surname" column on the left of the form.
     
  6. In the "Locations" column enter the Town, Village or Hamlet, with County. (only enter the Country if it is not England.)
     
  7. In the "Date or Period" column PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING ABBREVIATIONS:-
     
    c = circa or approximately; C = Century (for example, 18C covers 1700 to 1799)
    E = Early, M = Mid, L = Late and Any = all time periods.
     
  8. Use a separate line on the form for each Name and Location, as shown in the following example;
Surname only Location (including County & Country) Date or Period
JONES TARVIN     CHS 18C
JONES ST HELENS     CHS c1742
JONES STOKE-ON-TRENT     STS 1643-1725
JONES CARDIFF     GLA  WLS E 1800s
JONES AUS 1921-date

Please remember that by publishing your interests you start a two-way process, which means that you are just as likely to give information to someone else as to be given any yourself. Please therefore give all dates and locations researched for each family listed.

Members of the Society should get in touch with another directly if they seem to be working on the same ancestral line, enclosing a SAE. If you wish to write to the Members' Interests Co-ordinator (whose address is given on the form, and in the Society's Journal), please remember to enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope for reply. If you are writing from abroad and have no access to UK current stamps of the correct value, please enclose two International Reply Coupons.
