Cheshire BMD's On-line - The Family History Society of Cheshire were the pioneers of the UK BMD Project and now has more than four million records available on line. Free BMD - transcribed General Register Office (GRO) BMD indexes on-line. Tameside Cemeteries - a relatively new and growing database of burials in Tameside cemeteries, which is searchable on-line. Out of an estimated total of 300,000 burials in municipal cemeteries in Tameside, 60,000 are now on-line. UK BMD Project - redesigned website covering all the known free BMD sites in the United Kingdom. Ian Hartas has recently added the ability to search across all the websites using the UKBMD format. GENUKI - a must for everyone researching their family history in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Ancestry - subscription website, but now has the 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881,1891,1901 census returns searchable on-line plus an alternative search engine for FreeBMD, full GRO BMD indexes WWI Pension Records, old British Telephone Directories and much more. Find My Past.com - new name for 1837 on-line - pay per view site enabling the searching of GRO (General Register Office) indexes on-line. Have recently added over 1 million birth and death registrations that occurred abroad, the1841, 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 Census, Soldiers who Died. They have also merged with the nationalarchivist.com and added their databases of militaryrecords, death duty registers, various professional registers and in co-operation with 192.com you can now search for living relatives. Are now adding Migration details from British Ports between 1890 and 1929. Certificates On-line - order certificates directly from the GRO on-line. Commonwealth War Graves Commission - a searchable database of wargraves of those killed in World War One and World War Two. Local Family History SocietiesThe Family History Society for Cheshire - hosting the Cheshire BMD Project, Cheshire Wills on-line, Cheshire Parishes and much more. North Cheshire Family History Society - have a good database of Monumental Inscriptions and Burial Indexes, including several for churches in Tameside. Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society- have their own library at Clayton House, Irish Ancestry, Oldham Family History and Computer Groups, and are sponsors for the Lancashire BMD Project. Derbyshire Family History Society - for a small fee they can offer postal searches of Derbyshire Indexes.
